Sound is all around us by Gabriele Engstrom
According the Thesaurus dictionary sound is:
“the sensation produced by stimulation of the organs of hearing vibrations transmitted through the air or other medium. Mechanical vibrations transmitted through an elastic medium, traveling in air at a speed of approximately 1087 feet (331 meters)per second at sea level.”Sound can heal, but sound can also destroy. Our modern world is filled with noise, when you really listen, then you will hear the sound of the refrigerator, washing machine, most people have the TV or radio on so constant noise about something (sadness, war, joy, anger etc). On the streets: noise of cars, trucks, buses, trains people running, walking or talking. The office is another place, which overwhelms our nervous system. Noise pollution is huge, but we seem to be accepting it, even worse we do not even think about it. No wonder we are getting more and more stressed, irritated, sick and tired. How can our system repair if it is constantly disturbed by different unpleasant frequencies. Modern society has not thought about the consequences of this noisy world.
That is why it is so important to have the sound of silence. Of course your answer will be even nature is noisy. True but it is a harmonious calming sound. We all know that the sound of water calms us down, the crackling sound of a camp fire brings people together and gives us a sense of peace and belonging. The rain falling down on your roof is another amazing calming sound.
I remember suggesting to one of my clients to just sit under a tree and to listen to the sound of the wind in the tree for at least 10 minutes. She told me afterwards that she never felt so calm and her sleeping patterns were improving. YES a simple exercise like this can improve the health of your being.
When was the last time you took time out to just listen to nature???? When was the last time you sat in silence ?????
Our cells need to repair not just through vitamins and minerals, good food and clean water, but also with the soothing sounds of nature, silence, your voice, binaural beat frequencies, calming music or the joyful sound of laughter. And the good part is, it is free.I help people with biofeedback but also with the sound of their own voice. Just feeling the vibration in the body can be a wonderful healing. Humming for example releases oxytocin (love neurotransmitter) and you can use humming in so many different ways.
I would urge each and everyone of you to start using your voice and words with intent. Every word has a vibration, but each word can be said in anger, love, frustration etc……Example: You can say I love you and really mean it and your voice will have a different sound, then if you say I love you and you really do not mean it. First one heals the second one does the opposite. But you used the same words.
So, start playing and experiment with the exciting world of sound.
I truly wish you an effervescent life.
