Fascia – It’s Role in the Body

 In Uncategorized

As a qualified and experienced Bowen Therapist, I work with fascia in every treatment I do. I understand the nature of fascia and how it works within the body to create a healing environment. I also am aware that if the fascia becomes dehydrated, then many disease states are created, fibromyalgia being just one of them.

Restoring balance

The key to unlocking the pain and discomfort from the effects of fibromyalgia, is to gently and regularly bring the body, and particularly the fascia, back to a state of homeostasis – a healthy balance of all body systems. Ordinarily, the body has an inbuilt mechanism for homeostatic balance, however, this can be shut down or have reduced effectiveness due to many factors, with stress being the number one problem.

Relieving the pain

Bowen therapy is a gentle manipulation of the fascia by creating cross-fibre rolling movements over the skin. This causes the stuck fibres of the fascia to pull apart and allows greater blood flow to that area, while removing toxins which cause the pain and inflammation to the muscles, tendons and nerves. Drinking at least 2 litres of water a day, adds to the body’s ability to help flush the toxins and restore balance to the internal systems of the body. Reducing stress is vitally necessary to aiding this process too.
