Cook with Essential Oils: Raw Avocado and Orange Cacao Mousse
At Oasis Natural Health Centres, we love cooking with essential oils as we get absolute purity of flavor in such a concentrated form! It cuts way down on waste because we only need to use a drop or two of oil, and can have the bottle of essential oil for months!
Ingredients:
4 medium, ripe avocados
6 Medjool dates, chopped finely and soaked for 1hr in ¼ cup boiling water(or 1/3 cup raw coconut nectar)
1/2 cup raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 drops of Organic Bare Oils orange essential oils
Fresh fruit and nuts, for garnish
In the bowl of a blender or food processor, blend avocado until smooth. Add all other ingredients, blending until mixture is uniform. Chill for about 2 hours in the fridge or half an hour in the freezer. Garnish with fresh fruit or chopped nuts.
Recipe Notes:
If you want to try this recipe, but don’t have the raw coconut sweetener or cacao powder on hand, agave, honey and unsweetened cocoa powder are fine-tasting substitutes. The mousse will no longer be strictly raw, but will still be delicious! And it retains the spirit of the dish.
If you love chocolate/mint flavor, you can replace the 2 drops of orange essential oil with 2 drops of organic peppermint essential oil!
