Sahasrara – Crown Chakra

The crown chakra (known as Sahasrara) is located at the top centre of the head, and is the chakra of pure consciousness. This chakra is symbolised by a lotus with a 1000 petals, and represented by the colours violet and white. On a holistic level, this chakra governs enlightenment (spiritual), the pineal gland and pituitary gland (body), detachment from illusions (mind) and divine love (emotion).

Signs of imbalance in this chakra include headaches, poor mental health, degenerative conditions, spiritual depression, epilepsy, varicose veins, poor skin conditions, lack of purpose, inability to see “the bigger picture”, constant emotional conflict, attachment to illusions (material existence), obsession, craving (where nothing satisfies), and chronic exhaustion.

To balance your brow chakra, study and practice the art of mediation; mediation is a life-long commitment to calming the mind, keeping the emotions neutral and allowing the body to be in a state of total relaxation so you are able to further develop your consciousness. You can also try other spiritual/religious techniques designed to bring your entire being into harmony and closer to God. Alternatively, to activate this chakra, you can use essential oils such lavender, frankincense and lavender; apply a few drops of chosen essential oil in a carrier oil and massage on your crown chakra area – and also massage throughout your hair.
